WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR IN STARTUPS?
Startups are not about products and services; startups are about teams building at scale. Being in the startup ecosystem for more than two decades, our team has identified the exact criteria that make an investment successful, and it's far from being about product, service, or market.
Investing in startups is far more than putting money into a company; it is a vibe an investor identifies with founders, a connection, and a vision that binds everyone together.
THE FIRST 20 MINUTES CAN SAY A LOT.
When meeting with founders, the first 20 Minutes will either set the vibe for an injection or not. The conversation is not an objective criterion for many, but for us, it is the most accurate approach to deploying money we are entrusted with deploying. Our Bran has a very advanced system to detect patterns, a system that cannot be put into words, processes, or plans. A few questions we often ask, though, would go like this: "Why are you going into entrepreneurship?", "What are you trying to achieve" and "What's one answer you would think about if you were asked one question."
HOW FOUNDERS MET IS CRUCIAL?
How founders have met and how their relationship is structured is detrimental to the success and failure of a startup. We look for founders who still need to be aligned. Founders who have little personal ties with each other [Husband / Wife]. This is not a definitive criterion, far from it; If we feel a synchronized vibe and a level of maturity enough to overcome obstacles, we will disregard a close relationship.
INVEST IN FOUNDERS THAT DON'T ASK FOR MONEY
We look for founders that understand money is the last thing they need. The most important thing is collective building and the energy that binds the team together. Money comes last after advisory, networking, energy, and services.
STARTING WITH A VERY SMALL TICKET, PROOF OF CONCEPT [POC] CAN ALSO BE PROOF OF INVESTMENT [POII].
We always start with a minimal ticket, even if we risk purchasing a follow-up stake at a higher valuation. This is done to ensure founders are joining Akyllers for everything other than money and that we build a fantastic relationship with the founders in the long run.
